Managing Dental Disease
Caries risk assessment
The assessment of risk that a child may have to develop caries at an early age, makes it possible to plan further care. An intense history regarding diet, brushing habits, fluoride use etc. are the first clues. Important factors in the determination of caries are the individual properties of the saliva; the surface structure of the teeth (deep grooves and furrows); any crowding of teeth and the condition of old fillings if any.
Early Childhood CariesFillings and Crowns
There are a range of fillings used in children’s teeth. The choice of material depends on the size of the cavity and the area where the cavity is present.
